Dear McKeown Family, It is with great regret and sadness that I learned of Eric's passing. I found out about it through my friend Vic Brochu from St. Pat's Parish, with whom I'm still in touch despite the fact that I moved to Port Colborne Ontario last fall. I knew Eric when I first started coming to AA in Sillery at St. Michael's Church and a lot of Hugh Fraser's kids were there and Eric was one of them. He was a very friendly young man and seemed to want to get well, but was struggling. We later never saw him again and I always wondered what happened to him and I didn't even know what his family name was since it is an Anonymous Program. I wasn't aware that he was related to the McCrackens with whom I went to Katimavik High School in the 1970s (Glen and Merrick). This kind of hit close to home. Please accept my prayers for the repose of the soul of your loved one and know that many others such as myself have managed to overcome our addictions (I just celebrated 15 years of continuous complete sobriety and abstinence).
