À Saint Brigid's Home, le 10 juillet 2026, à l'âge de 89 ans et 6 mois est décédé paisiblement M. Patrick McKenna, époux de Lise Dussault. Il était le fils de feu monsieur Eugène McKenna et de feu dame Marie Lavoie.

Outre son épouse qu'il a chérie pendant 57 ans, il laisse dans le deuil son fils Steven, sa fille Ann (Simon Roy), son petit-fils adoré Brian McKenna (Rose Morin-Thibault), sa belle-sœur Marie Dussault (feu Jacques Gagné); plusieurs neveux et nièces; ainsi que de nombreux cousins, cousines et ami(e)s. Il est allé rejoindre sa sœur Helen (feu John Golden).

Patrick a consacré sa vie à l'éducation, dont ses 25 dernières années comme directeur à l'École Secondaire St. Patrick de Québec. Très impliqué dans la communauté Irlandaise, il a été agent de pastorale et marguillier à l'Église St. Patick ainsi que vice-président de "Irish Heritage Quebec." En 2001, il était également très fier d'avoir réussi à obtenir sa citoyenneté irlandaise. En 2018, il a été honoré en étant choisi "Grand Marshal" du défilé de la St. Patrick à Québec. À sa retraite, il a réalisé son rêve en publiant un livre sur l'Histoire de l'École Secondaire St. Patrick, depuis sa fondation en 1843 jusqu'en 1998.

Le service religieux sera célébré le samedi 29 août 2026 à 11h en présence des cendres en
l’église St. Patrick, 1145, avenue de Salaberry Québec
où la famille recevra les condoléances à compter de 9 h. Une réception aura lieu au sous-sol de l'église où parents et amis seront les bienvenus. L'inhumation suivra au cimetière Saint-Patrick.

Un merci tout spécial au personnel médical du 7ième étage de l'Hôpital Laval où Patrick a séjourné 2 mois, ainsi que pour les excellents soins reçus à la résidence Saint Brigid's Home. La famille tient à souligner l'humanisme déployé aux soins palliatifs du CHUL par le docteur Charles-Étienne Dubrule et son équipe ainsi que par le personnel de Saint Brigid's Home qui a pris la relève.

Mr. Patrick McKenna passed away at Saint Brigid's Home on July 10th, 2026, at the age of 89 years and 6 months. He was the husband of Lise Dussault for 57 years. He was the son of the late Eugene McKenna and the late Marie Lavoie.

He leaves to mourn his dear wife as well as his son Steven, his daughter Ann (Simon Roy), his beloved grandson Brian McKenna (Rose Morin-Thibault), his sister-in-law Marie Dussault (late Jacques Gagné), several nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his sister Helen (late John-Gilbert Golden).

Patrick dedicated his life to education as a teacher and as a Principal of St-Patrick’s High School in Quebec for 25 years. He was very involved in the lrish Community as a pastoral agent and a trustee at St. Patrick’s Church, and also as Vice-President of Irish Heritage. In 2001, he was very proud to have obtained his lrish Citizenship. In 2018, he was honored to be chosen the Grand Marshal for the St. Patrick's Day Parade. When he retired, he realized his dream by publishing a book on the History of St. Patrick's High School from its beginning in 1843 until 1998.

A funeral mass in the presence of ashes will take place on Saturday, August 29th at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 1145 de Salaberry Avenue, Quebec City where the family will receive condolences from 9 a.m. A reception will take place in the McMahon HaIl in the basement of the Church for family and friends. The burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

A special thanks to the medical personnel of the 7th floor of Laval Hospital where Patrick spent 2 months and for the excellent care he received at Saint Brigid's Home. The family wants to emphasize the humanity of the palliative care unit at the CHUL, especially Dr. Charles-Etienne Dubrule and his staff and also by the Saint Brigid's Home personnel.
