It is with great sadness that the family of Verna Frew Delaney announces her passing on the morning of June 3rd, 2021 at the age of 75. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Verna is survived by her husband Paul, her sons David (Mary) and Glenn (Lisa) and her grandchildren Dylan, Aiden, Gavin, Reid, Tara and Clarke.
Born in Quebec City to the late Hugh and Mae Frew, Verna was raised in Sillery. She is a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School and Marymount College, where she received the Governor General’s Academic Medal for highest academic ranking. Verna married Paul, the love of her life, in 1968. Together they raised their family in Beauport. Verna worked for many years as an educator, teaching high school English and later as a translator for the Quebec Ministry of Education. Positions that brought her much fulfillment.
Upon retirement, Verna spent much of her time travelling the world with Paul, but what brought her the greatest pleasure was being with her grandchildren, spending months at a time with them in California, Belleville, Vermont, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Kingston and Montreal. Nanny had a special way of connecting with each grandchild and made them feel so special and loved.
Along with her husband, children and grandchildren, Verna will be lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Andrea, Mary Ann, Gerry, Francine, Thérèse and Gilberte, her dear cousin Jody Rea (Bill), her life-long friend Jane Deir (Billy) and her Aunt Verna, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Verna’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held in the coming months when circumstances permit. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choosing.
